A Batavia teenager has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of weapons possession for his role in a fatal stabbing last May on Central Avenue.
17 year old Samuel Blackshear was accused of shooting Nathaniel Wilson moments after Wilson fatally stabbed 41 year old Terry Toote.
Wilson pled guilty to the murder and was sentenced to 20 years to life.
Blackshear was originally facing assault charges for using a handgun he was given by a third defendant in the case, Jennifer Urvizu-Hanlon.
The case against her has yet to be settled.
Lawyers for Blackshear and Urvizu-Hanlon argued that the actions of their clients last May were justified.
Blackshear could be eligible for youthful offender status, otherwise he could get 2 and a half years in state prison on the weapons possession charge.
LeRoy Police announce today the arrest of two men on felony weapons charges.
The incident played out last Tuesday at the Tops Market in LeRoy.
A LeRoy police officer interviewed 46 year old Todd Englerth of Stafford and 42 year old Phillip Severino of Corfu.
Both were suspected of weapons charges.
At one point Englerth started struggling with the officer and had to be tasered.
Several citizens stepped in to help the officer.
Both were arraigned and later released under the supervision of Genesee Justice.
Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins is set to be chosen as the senate majority leader today, marking a historic move. Senate Democrats are back in Albany for the first time since their clean sweep of state government earlier this month. That put Stewart-Cousins on track to become the first woman and African-American to lead a majority legislative conference in the New York State Legislature. The 68-year-old, who was born in New York City and represents Yonkers, will officially take over in January.

The Salt City of Syracuse poured a dose of its namesake into the wound of Blue Devil Quarterback Nathan Biscaro on Saturday, an injury the team just couldn’t seem to soothe.
The Blue Devils suffered their first loss of the season to Glens Falls 55 to 32 and dropping the New York State Class B title game.
While the 1st quarter injury to Biscaro had its impact, there were other factors in the loss.
