Local Drug Task Force members report the arrest of 60 year old Jack Benson of St. Mary’s Street, Pavilion.
He is facing six Class B level felonies for criminal dug sales and possession for allegedly selling fentanyl to an agent of the Local Drug Task Force on three different occasions.
Benson was apprehended on an arrest warrant following a traffic stop in Stafford Friday afternoon where he was allegedly found in possession of 24 doses of heroin and $1,300 in cash.
According to authorities, 38 year old Jolynn Gorski of Batavia was identified as a passenger in the vehicle and was allegedly found in possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was arrested on a count of criminal use of drug paraphernalia and released with an appearance ticket.
Benson was ordered to be held without bail in the Genesee County Jail as additional charges are pending.
A Town of Batavia man, arrested earlier this month on five counts of disseminating indecent material to a minor, is now facing more serious charges.
36 year old David Somerton of Kelsey Road is now facing felony counts of possession of an obscene performance by a child and use of a child in a sexual performance.
Somerton is due back in Genesee County Court at a later date.
Oakfield-Alabama Schools have a new superintendent.
He is John Fisgus, formerly a middle school principal for Royalton-Hartland schools in Niagara County.
Fisgus begins his new job at Oakfield-Alabama in January.
Salvation Army is short on change and asking for some big buck donors to step up.
The Salvation Army’s famous Red Kettle Campaign which runs from November 16th to December 24th is suffering due to the increase in online ordering, as well as the use of credit/debit cards.
The changes is shopping trends have led to less change for the Red Kettle and it is increasingly difficult for the organization to reach their $90,000 goal.
The Salvation Army has now announced they are looking for 90 people who are willing to give $1,000 each to accomplish their 90 for 90 challenge!
Each week during the campaign, donors will be thanked and honored in a Facebook Live video on the Salvation Army Facebook page.

The Buffalo Bills will be looking to make it two wins in a row this weekend.
They’ll be in Miami to take on the Dolphins.
This is the first time the teams have met this season.
Buffalo is coming off a 24 to 21 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.
Kickoff is set for one o’clock Sunday afternoon.
