Wyoming County man indicted for child sex crimes.
38 year old Shayne Hildreth of Bliss has been jailed for allegedly videotaping the sexual assault of a child.
He was indicted on a felony count of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance along with Criminal Sexual Act, Unlawful Surveillance and Endangering the Welfare of a Child following his arrest earlier this week.
State Police allegedly discovered pictures on Hildreth’s phone during investigation into a sexual assault complaint that was used as evidence him.
He is accused of sexually assaulting a female victim under 14 years old while secretly videotaping the incident on a camera hidden in her bedroom.
Hildreth is facing a possible fifteen year prison sentence on the felony count and after pleading not guilty was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
North Street man arrested on stolen weapon charge.
Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested 27 year old Jacob Camerera of North Street in Batavia after he was allegedly found in possession of a firearm that was previously reported stolen.
Camerera was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property for the alleged November incident and was released with an appearance ticket for Batavia City Court on January 8th.
The YWCA is planning to sell their building and rent back space.
As restructuring continues at the once financially fledgling YW in Batavia, administrators have now reached an agreement to sell their building on North Street in the city to pediatrician Dr. Emily Fraser-Branche, who will relocate her practice to the building and lease back space to the YW.
The doctor must obtain a use variance from the City of Batavia for a medical office at the location.
The planned sale was announced to a group of YWCA supporters and area residents at a meeting Wednesday night.
Buffalo Diocese clears two priests and continues to investigate two more for child sex abuse.
The Diocesan Review Board met this week and carefully considered reports of abuse against four Buffalo priests.
The review board said that child sexual abuse allegations against Rev. Fabian Maryanski and Rev. Mark Wolski have been substantiated, and they will remain on administrative leave while clergy at the Vatican make the final determination.
The board said child sexual abuse allegations against Rev. Roy Herberger and Msgr. Frederick Leising have not been substantiated, and they have returned to active ministry.
Batavia Downs cancels Friday’s card ahead of the final racing night of the season.
Friday night racing was canceled due to unseasonably warm temperatures which caused a swift thaw, leading to unsafe track conditions.
Saturday which is the final night of racing for the 2018 meet, is still scheduled to go with a very early post time of 4:45 p.m.
A pair of struggling teams will be in action this weekend.
The Buffalo Bills are hosting the Detroit Lions at New Era Field.
The Lions have only five wins on the season, while the Bills have just four.
Kickoff is set for one o’clock Sunday afternoon.
The New York State Police will join the national enforcement initiative to crack down on impaired driving this holiday season.
State Police and local law enforcement agencies will participate in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, which began Thursday, and runs through Tuesday, January 1st.
Drivers can expect to see sobriety checkpoints, along with more troopers on roadways during this campaign.
