A Batavia man accused of abducting a Bergen teenager, triggering an amber alert, may face federal charges.
22 year old Jose Torres-Acevedo has been charged locally with stealing a car and taking a 14 year old girl from her home late last month.
Torres Acevedo and the girl were located in Mansfield, Pennsylvania.
Authorities said the girl went with Acevedo willingly.
Now, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is talking with the FBI to determine if Acevedo should face federal charges for taking the girl across state lines.
State Police nab the Grinch who stole a sign on Christmas Eve from a Town of Batavia Restaurant.
42 year old Daniel King of Pembroke is accused of boosting a sign from the Willow Bend Restaurant in Pembroke.
King was charged with Petit Larceny.
Minimum wage workers in New York State will soon see a boost in their pay.
Effective December 31st, the minimum wage upstate will rise to eleven dollars and ten cents an hour.
Governor Cuomo is also launching a wage theft hotline for workers to call if they feel their employer is not complying.
November unemployment rates are out.
Genesee County’s jobless rate last month was 3.5-percent, down from an even 5-percent a year ago.
Wyoming County is 2.2 percent lower than a year ago, Orleans County was 2 percent lower last month than November of last year.
