The Batavia Police Department has arrested a parolee in connection with the burglaries which occurred over the weekend of January 4th, 2019. Christopher T. Sprague, age 25, of 130 W. Main St., Batavia, NY, was arrested on 01/18/2019 and charged with 4 counts of Burglary 3rd. Sprague was in custody at the Genesee County Jail on an unrelated petit larceny charge and a parole warrant at the time of his arrest.
During the weekend of January 4th – 7th, the Batavia Police Department investigated 9 burglaries, which includes attempted burglaries, to local businesses. The areas where the burglaries took place are Ellicott St and Jackson St, Harvester Ave, Swan St, Center St, Apollo Dr and Liberty St. The suspects broke windows or kicked in doors to gain entry at most of the businesses. Items were taken at some of the businesses but not all. The suspects stole a white 1998 Dodge RAM 2500 diesel from one of the businesses, but it has since been recovered. Evidence was located at the scenes which appeared to indicate the burglaries were committed by the same suspects.
The Batavia Police Department would like to thank all the local businesses which have assisted us in providing their surveillance videos.
No further information will be released at this time as the investigation is ongoing as there is at least one other suspect still outstanding.
