Parolee jailed in Batavia arrested in connection to business burglary weekend.
City Police have arrested a parolee in connection with a string of burglaries from businesses in Batavia.
25 year old Christopher Sprague of West Main Street Batavia is facing four counts of Burglary in the 3rd degree for alleged break-ins that occurred in the area Ellicott Street and Harvester Avenue over the weekend of January 4th earlier this month.
Police said that the suspects broke windows or kicked in doors to gain entry in most cases and evidence at the scenes appeared to indicate the burglaries were committed by the same suspects.
Sprague was already being held in the County Jail on an unrelated Petit larceny charge and was also on parole for a previous conviction.
Police say they are looking for at least one other suspect in the case.
No further information will be released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

Democrats have passed the DREAM Act in the New York State Senate.
The legislation had been previously blocked while Republicans held the senate majority and now Governor Cuomo is set to sign the bill.
The law gives access to state financial assistance for undocumented immigrants who are applying for colleges.
Local Assemblyman Steve Hawley issued a statement in opposition to the legislation saying “We cannot possibly justify spending millions of tax dollars to line the pockets of those here illegally when the student loan debt crisis is a national epidemic.”
The average debt burden is nearly $40-thousand per student.
Hawley said the Assembly Minority Conference has put forth numerous proposals that are solutions to consider before giving away free college to illegals.

Man accused of attacking two brothers with a butcher knife in Wyoming County pleads guilty to two counts of attempted murder.
39 year old Michael Finch of Florida and formerly of Wyoming County entered a random home in the Town of Middlebury, to find food and money in August of last year.
In the intrusion Finch stabbed two brothers inside, a 28 year old and a 13 year old with a butcher knife taken from the home’s kitchen.
Despite being injured, the brothers were able to fend off Finch who fled into a wooded area and was apprehended shortly after a brief search.
Finch is scheduled to be sentenced on February 21 to 20 years to life in prison for each charge.

Overdose death in Orleans County leads to manslaughter charge against a Lockport resident.
27 year old James White of Lockport has been arrested in connection with the overdose death of a Medina man two years ago.
White is facing a felony count of Manslaughter for allegedly providing a lethal combination of heroin and fentanyl to 22 year old Wade Sargeant
White was ordered to be held in Orleans County Jail on $100,000 bail and is due back in Orleans County Court today.

The National Weather Service is updating the expected weather conditions for the entire western New York region this morning.
Forecasters says rain will quickly change to wet snow from west to east early this morning across Western New York.
Conditions through mid-morning may make roadways slushy and slippery during the morning commute.
