Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed a law aimed at providing victims of child sexual abuse justice. The Child Victims Act was passed by state lawmakers late last month, extending the statute of limitations. Now legal-action can be brought through age 55, rather than the past cutoff of age 23, and it opens a one-year window within which a lawsuit can be brought in some cases. Governor Cuomo says the legislation is a key step towards overcoming the type of abuse that’s been prevalent in some institutions, including the Catholic Church
Amazon is cancelling its plans to build a three-billion dollar second corporate campus in New York City. The tech-giant is scuttling their plans after a negative response was mounted by some activists and elected officials.
Massive tax breaks had been offered to Amazon, in return for what Governor Cuomo had called one of the state’s best job deals.
Batavia Assemblyman Steve Hawley says he would welcome Amazon to consider what he calls the “construction ready” STAMP site in Town of Alabama.
The site had been highly touted by the county’s Economic Development Center until plans by its first tenant, 13-66 technologies, fizzled out.
Two Rochester men face felony drug charges in Genesee County.
52 year old Edwin Coleman and 20 year old Trevon Slaughter were charged after separate six-month long investigations.
Both were accused of selling crack cocaine to an undercover agent of the county’s Local Drug Task Force.

The boil order was issued when levels in the village’s main water tank dropped suddenly due to a leak. It’s now been fixed.
