Vernon Ave man jailed for burglary in Batavia.
City Police have arrested 54 year old Patrick Viscuso of Batavia on counts of Burglary and Criminal Contempt both in the second degree following ab incident on Evans Street.
Viscuso was accused of violating a court order of protection after illegally entering a protected person’s residence at around 9 o’clock last night.
He was remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail and is expected to appear in Batavia City Court at a later date.
Two busted for shoplifting from stores on East Main Street in the city.
31 year old Melynda Gayhart of Hutchins Street was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny following investigation into a shoplifting complaint from the 7-Eleven on East Main Street.
She was accused of stealing beer from her employer and was subsequently released with an appearance ticket for City Court next Tuesday.
29 year old Justin Gladney Sr. of North Spruce Street was also arrested for Petit Larceny after he was accused of shoplifting at the Family Dollar on East Main.
Gladney was issued an appearance ticket for this afternoon in City Court.
City Democrats endorse Bonarigo for Batavia’s next full-time City Court Judge.
Benjamin Bonarigo Sr. has received the full endorsement of the City of Batavia Democratic Committee for full-time City Court Judge.
The Committee voted unanimously in favor oh him at their endorsement meeting on February 5th.
Bonarigo is vying for the City Justice position against part time City Court Judge Durin Rogers.
Rogers received the City’s Republican Committee endorsement two weeks ago.
A California man is accused of traveling to Rochester to pursue a young girl.
44 year old Gabriel Murillo thought he was talking to a 12 year old on a social media app, but was actually talking to an undercover state police investigator. Murillo flew to Rochester on Saturday and was arrested at the airport.
He’s being charged with sexual abuse and has a preliminary hearing this afternoon.
The Genesee County Economic Development Center has announced that the Genesee Valley Educational Partnership will receive the Economic Development Partner of the Year award at the agency’s annual business meeting on March 8th at Batavia Downs.
The Genesee Valley Educational Partnership serves more than 24,000 students in 22 school districts in Genesee, Livingston, Steuben and Wyoming counties.
As Amazon is cutting ties with New York City and New York state is in a two-billion-dollar tax revenue deficit, Governor Andrew Cuomo is blaming wealthy tax payers for migrating south to Florida.
Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis says New York’s struggles show the Sunshine State’s model of low-taxes and a small state budget are working.
Patronis says Florida has about half the budget of New York despite having a slightly larger population.
