Another Winter Weather Advisory going into effect this afternoon.
The National Weather Service has posted a Winter Weather Advisory for the region for this afternoon into the evening.
The Advisory includes Orleans and Genesee Counties and is expected to be in effect from 1 p.m. this afternoon to 10 this evening.
Forecasters are calling for mixed precipitation with total ice accumulations of a few hundredths of an inch and less than an inch of snow.
Winds will be a factor with gusts reaching as high as 40 mph.
Plan on slippery road conditions that could impact the evening commute.
Pratt Road resident arrested on multiple warrants.
34 year old Erica Raphael was arrested by Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies on two warrants for Bail Jumping and Petit Larceny stemming from an incident in October of last year.
According to City Police Raphael was attempting to visit an inmate at the Orleans County Correctional Facility on Monday when she was taken into custody.
She was remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of bail.
A Batavian Man busted for drunk driving.
65 year old Mark Skeet of Batavia Oakfield Townline Road was arrested for DWI following a report of a disturbance on State Street in the City Monday afternoon.
He was released with appearance tickets for City Court in March.
A proposed bill in the New York Legislature would allow felons to serve on juries.
The bill has already passed in the Senate Judiciary Committee and could be voted on by the full Senate as early as this month.
It also reportedly has strong support in the Assembly.
If passed, New York would become the third state in the nation to allow felons who’ve served their time to be jurors.
Go Art receives a $3000 grant.
The NY State council on the arts along with the preservation league of NY state and the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area announced the grant for Go Art among other recipients.
The Technical Assistance Grant is a competitive historic preservation grant established in 2012 as a partnership between NY State council of the arts and the preservation league of NY state.
Governor Andrew Cuomo wants to require everyone in a car to buckle up.
Currently state law only requires back seat passengers under the age of 16 to use seat belts.
Cuomo announced a plan to expand the law last week.
A 2016 study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found only about 72 percent of people wear a seat belt while riding in the back seat.
The flu is moving through New York.
The New York State Department of Health says cases of the flu are up more than 23 percent from last week.
Officials say there were about 600 reported cases of the flu in the Capital Region last week.
Across the state there have been more than 85-hundred cases of the flu this season.
