The Alpina Foods plant in Batavia is set to be sold to Upstate Niagara Cooperative Inc.
According to CEO of Upstate Niagara Larry Webster, the Buffalo based dairy producer has signed a purchase agreement to buy the former yogurt plant in Batavia.
The news was announced at the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony at Quality Inn & Suites in Batavia.
The Alpina plant is located in the Genesee Valley Agri-business Park on Ag Park Drive West.
Alpina closed their yogurt making operations at the plant in January.

Pembroke resident jailed for Assault that allegedly endangered children.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies report the arrest of 42 year old Philip Severino, of Pratt Road in Pembroke for Assault in the second degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child less than 17 years old.
Severino was taken into custody following investigation into a domestic incident late last month at a Pratt Road residence.
He was remanded to the Genesee County Jail on two-thousand dollars bail and is expected to reappear in Pembroke Town Court next Tuesday.

An Ellicott Ave resident busted for Bail Jumping.
City Police have apprehended 20 year old Ahdeosun Aiken of Batavia on a City Court Arrest Warrant after he was observed walking down Thorp Street in Batavia.
Aiken was wanted on a Petit Larceny charge from January of this year as well as for Bail Jumping in September in last year.
Aiken was committed to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Near head-on collision ends in arrest for a LeRoy resident.
59 year old Derrick Pickard of Genesee Street, Le Roy was arrested Friday by LeRoy Police after an off-duty Patrol reported that they had almost been struck head on and had the operator of the vehicle detained.
Pickard is accused of failing to maintain his lane and nearly causing an accident.
Following a brief investigation he was taken into custody and charged with Driving Impaired by Drugs, Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Keep Right.
Pickard was issued tickets returnable to LeRoy Town Court on March 14th.

Police in LeRoy report a felony arrest after finding a Rochester resident asleep at the wheel.
LeRoy Police took 37 year old Ronald Besemer-McLean of Rochester into custody on felony counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and Tampering with Physical Evidence, along with a misdemeanor count of Resisting Arrest after he was allegedly found asleep in the driver’s seat on State Route 19 Saturday.
According to police Besemer-McLean struggled with officers up his arrest and swallowed evidence that would have likely ended in another charge.
He was ultimately placed under arrest and remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
Besemer-McLean is to return to the Le Roy Town Court on March 5th.

Some state lawmakers will be holding a press conference in Albany today.
They’ll be requesting funding for the Student Loan Consumer Assistance Program.
It would offer assistance to borrowers across New York who are dealing with deceptive student loan industry practices.
After this morning’s event, there will be a public hearing in the Senate on student loan debt.

The Alexander Happy Agers meeting has been cancelled for today Monday March 4th.
