Batavia Teen sentenced to prison for shooting a murderer.
18 year old Samuel Blackshear of Batavia has been denied youthful offender status and was sentenced to state prison for shooting Nathaniel Wilson on Central Avenue last May.
Blackshear was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in state prison followed by 2 1/2 years on parole, which is the mandatory sentence for a conviction on a count of criminal possession of a weapon.
Defense attorney James Hinman contended that Blackshear was acting in self-defense however Judge Charles Zambito determined the teen was exercising “street justice” and that he believed there was a prior dispute between Blackshear and Wilson.

As for the teenager’s criminal record and conduct, Blackshear had been arrested and granted youthful offender status once, and was on probation at the time of the May 17 incident.
Local law enforcement reported 26 negative contacts with Blackshear in the past two years and the teen had been accused of shooting another person with a BB gun.
Judge Zambito said at sentencing that Blackshear put at risk an entire neighborhood while attempting to execute street justice on Wilson.
The Judge concluded by saying if Blackshear doesn’t change is mentality then he could end up dead like Terry Toote.

North Tonawanda man busted for bringing drugs into the Genesee County Jail.
47 year old Keith White was arrested and charged with Introducing Dangerous Contraband, Criminal Solicitation and Conspiracy along with 76 counts of Falsifying Business Records, 16 of which were felony counts.
White was accused of having a birthday card that contained a controlled substance inside.
He was remanded back to jail without bail to await his next day in court on April 4th.
According to deputies more charges are pending in the case.
A Batavia resident jailed on 9 counts of Grand Larceny.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies report the arrest of 43 year old Woodrow Horseman of Porter Ave Batavia on 9 counts of Grand Larceny and a single count of Petit Larceny.
He was accused of stealing a wallet containing 9 credit cards and other personal documents last month.
Horseman was committed to the county clink in lieu of $2,500 bail and is expected back in Batavia Town Court on April 9th.
GCC is hosting a first of its kind Drag Show as an LGBTQ Scholarship Fundraiser.
Earlier this month the SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Acceptance) Student Club at Genesee Community College announced it would host the its first-ever drag show, The Battle in Batavia, on Saturday, March 30, 2019 in the Batavia Campus’s Stuart Steiner Theatre.
The first of its kind on the Batavia campus, the show will feature a drag queen and king competition where professional drag artists from Buffalo and Rochester will skirmish amongst amateur drag kings and queens from the campus community.
All proceeds from the event will fund the College’s first and only LGBTQ Scholarship which will provide financial assistance to eligible students of the LGBTQ community at GCC facing emergency situations, or financial hardships.
The scholarship is the first of its kind.
