LeRoy Police say high-tech and old-fashioned police work has cracked a two year old Burglary case.
25 year old Patrick Gonzales of LeRoy has been charged with felony counts of burglary and grand larceny.
Police said the heist took place two years ago on Lake Street in the village. Gonzales is suspected of entering a building and taking a safe.
An alarm error led police to the wrong address but during the investigation, they spotted Gonzales but had no cause to stop him. They tracked footprints in the snow which led them to the safe and a jacket that had been buried nearby.
Eventually LeRoy PD was able to build their case with the help of DNA analysis on the jacket and led to the arrest of Gonzales.
Police say the THC oil seized from a Niagara Falls man during an Orleans County traffic stop had a street value of over $5,000.
31 year old Tyrell Lynch of the Falls is charged with the sale and distribution of the oil. The stuff is a highly concentrated form of pot used to make marijuana edibles.
Lynch was jailed in lieu of $1,000 bail. Lawmen say more arrests are pending.
The last day on the job for Genesee County Chief Investigator Jerome Brewster is this Friday. Brewster announced on WBTA last month that he was retiring after 44 years with the sheriff’s office.
In a lengthy interview with our news partner, The Batavian, Brewster says coaxing confessions out of criminals was one of the most satisfying parts of his job.

Batavia Assemblyman Steve Hawley is calling out majority members of the assembly for blocking college assistance for families of veterans.
Democrats on the Assembly’s Higher Education Committee have voted to block legislation, introduced by Hawley, offering discounted college tuition, room and board for the dependents of New York military service-members who have died in the line of duty.
In a prepared statement Hawley wrote: “Downstate politicians have no shame’ in throwing tax dollars at illegal aliens for their college expenses, but when it comes to family members veterans they turn their backs and vote no”.
Buffalo sports fans are among the most miserable in the nation. That’s the word from ESPN, which has just released its updated Sports Misery Index. Bills fans are tops among NFL fans for being most miserable with Buffalo missing the playoffs 18 of the last 19 years. Sabres fans are also miserable, ranking second in the NHL just behind fans of the Florida Panthers.
