Infant death investigation lands an Albion man in lock-up.
A lengthy investigation into the death of an infant by Albion Police has ended with an Albion resident behind bars.
The two year-long investigation resulted in the arrest of 29 year old Nicholas Monacelli of Eagle Harbor Road on charges of Reckless Endangerment and Endangering the welfare of a child.
Police were called in July of 2017 to a home on Beechwood Boulevard in Albion where officers discovered a severely injured 11 month old Damon Carter.
The boy died the following day from his severe head injury while at Strong.
Investigators say that Monacelli “knowingly and recklessly” mistreated Damon while the child was under his care resulting in the child’s injuries.
He was committed in lieu of $1,000 dollars bail to the Orleans County Jail with his next Gaines Town Court date scheduled for May 8th.

NYC woman jailed for Promoting Prison Contraband in Attica.
29 year old Jillian Duprey of New York City was taken into custody State Police out of Warsaw after being called to a drug complaint at the Attica Correctional Facility last Saturday.
Troopers report that a K9 Correctional Officer detained Duprey after she was found in possession of approximately half a gram of synthetic marijuana.
She was arrested on a count of Promoting Prison Contraband and was remanded to Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

An early morning robbery in Oakfield is under investigation by Troopers in Batavia.
State Police report the robbery occurred just before one yesterday morning at the 7-11 in Oakfield.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call state police in Batavia.

Wegmans is offering customers the chance to save on reusable bags this weekend.
The supermarket chain is offering a coupon for them tomorrow, and all you have to do is bring your plastic bags into any location between 11 a.m. and three p.m.
Officials are requesting the bags be clean.
Wegmans announced earlier this week it’s getting rid of single-use plastic bags by the end of the year.

State lawmakers are expected to vote next week on a bill that would keep toxic toys away from children.
The law calls for potentially dangerous chemicals to be removed from toys, clothing and furniture.
Increased exposure to certain chemicals has been connected to health problems.
Some opponents say they’re concerned about the impact any changes could have on businesses and claim supporters of the legislation are just using scare tactics.

The Buffalo Bills have added a player they hope boosts their defense.
They chose University of Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver with the ninth overall pick in last night’s NFL Draft.
Shortly after being selected, Oliver told The Buffalo News he wasn’t surprised the Bills added him to their roster.
Oliver is likely to be a starter on opening day when the Bills visit the New York Jets.
