Accused burglar in Batavia has two more counts added against him.
25 year old Christopher Sprague of West Main Street in Batavia was arrested in January of his year on four counts of Burglary for breaking into several businesses in the Ellicott Street and Harvester Ave area.
He is now facing another count of Burglary in the third degree for allegedly burglarizing Bill’s Auto on Evans Street back on December 23rd of last year and another count of Attempted Burglary for attempting to break-in to the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Jackson Street the same day.
Sprague is currently being held on other charges and is scheduled to reappear in Batavia City Court on June 6th.
Batavia resident turns himself in on sex abuse charge.
38 year old Wesley Thigpen of Vine Street in the City turned himself in to Batavia Police upon request following investigation into an alleged incident at a Vine Street address in December of last year.
Thigpen was arraigned in City Court on a single count of Sexual Abuse in the first degree and was released under supervision.
He is expected back in court on May 23rd.
Albion Police with assistance from the FBI investigated a Facebook post that threatened violence to an unspecified school in the area.
The investigation revealed that an Albion Central School student’s Facebook account had been taken over by an unknown person outside the country in Croatia and that unknown person made the post on the hijacked account.
The FBI believes that the account was taken over by the use of a malware attack on a phone.
While they have determined that the posts that were made are not a credible threat the Albion Police will have an increased presence at the Albion School.
Albion‘s School Resource Officer worked closely with the Albion School district during the investigation and Police would like to remind all residents to monitor their social media accounts
An Elba man faces assault charges after crashing into a house in Batavia.
42 year old Rodney Harmon Jr of Church Street Elba is facing a litany of charges including counts of Vehicular Assault, Assault, Reckless Driving and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs after crashing into a house on Oak Orchard Road in the Town of Batavia on April 15th.
Harmon and his passenger were allegedly involved in a domestic dispute while heading southbound on Route 98 before leaving the roadway and crashing into a home.
Harmon has an appearance ticket for Batavia Town Court on May 27th.
The trial of Congressman Chris Collins could end up being delayed.
The Buffalo News reports there’s debate over a clause in the Constitution.
The “Speech or Debate Clause” looks to protect members of Congress from abuse from other government branches.
Collins, who represents the 27th Congressional District, is facing insider trading charges.
The Republican is scheduled to go on trial in February.
