Genesee County Sheriff William Sheron and his predecessor Gary Maha have endorsed Durin Rogers for Batavia City Court Judge.
Rogers has been the city’s part-time City Court judge for the past four years.
The full time post is opening up due to the retirement of incumbent City Court Judge Robert Balbick.
Attorney Ben Bonarigo is the endorsed candidate of city Democrats.
Rogers and Bonarigo will square off in three primaries on June 25th: they are for the Republican, Conservative and Independence party endorsements.
A State Street man is facing felony drug charges.
45 year old Robert Taft is accused of selling crack cocaine to an agent of the Genesee County Local Drug Task Force.
Taft has been jailed without bail.
Businesses along Lake Ontario say they’re planning to stay open despite the threat of possible flooding.
They say with the start of the summer tourism season right around the corner, they can’t close their doors and lose potential income.
Some owners are already using sandbags and pumps to keep the water away. Water levels are getting closer to what they were two years ago when flooding caused extensive damage.
A new bill is being proposed at the state Capitol that would require teachers to learn how to use EpiPens.
The small devices are used to help people who are suffering from an allergic reaction.
Experts say more kids are coming to school each day with allergies to things like food, insects and even medicine, so training teachers how to use EpiPens could save lives.
The state Senate has given the green light to a new seat belt law. The legislation would require adults to wear the safety devices while sitting in the back of vehicles. Right now, they only have to wear them if they’re sitting in the front.
