Candidate for city court judge gains two top endorsements.
Genesee County Sheriff William Sheron along with former Sheriff and current County Legislator Gary Maha have both endorsed Durin Rogers to become Batavia’s next City Court Judge.
For the past four years Rogers has served as part-time City Court judge in Batavia.
The retirement of Judge Robert Balbick the current City Court Justice has opened the race for Rogers and Attorney Ben Bonarigo who has secured endorsement from city Democrats.
Rogers and Bonarigo will be vying for the Republican, Conservative and Independence party endorsements as they square off in three primaries on June 25th.

State Street man behind bars for alleged drug sales in the city.
45 year old Robert Taft of Batavia was arrested Wednesday following investigation into drug sales around the City.
Taft was accused of selling crack cocaine to a Genesee County Local Drug Task Force agent on two separate occasions and was charged with two felony counts of Criminal Sale and two felony counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree.
Taft was remanded to the Genesee County Jail without bail.

Batavia Honor Student named as Delegate of Congress of Future Medical Leaders.
Sophomore at Batavia High, Tate Fonda, will be a Delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Lowell, Massachusetts, June 23-25.
The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields and the purpose of the event is to honor, inspire, motivate and direct the top students aspiring to be physicians or medical scientists, to reach their goal.

New data from the Department of Labor shows the Empire State’s job market is strong.
Officials say the number of private sector jobs grew by over 24-thousand last month.
There are now over eight-point-three million of those positions, which is a record high.
In a statement, Governor Cuomo said these numbers prove New York is open for business.

There’s about to be a new push in Albany to legalize marijuana for recreational purposes.
A proposal is expected to be revealed in the coming days that would lay out a plan to tax, regulate and create licensing requirements for the drug.
Supporters say legalizing recreational marijuana would bring in needed revenue, but opponents are concerned about possible health impacts.
This issue was part of Governor Cuomo’s proposed budget, but wasn’t included in the final agreement.

A celebration of Ezra Castro’s life will be held September 22nd before the team’s home opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The 39-year-old passed away earlier this week after battling cancer.
