Governor Cuomo says he plans on running for a fourth term in 2022. The 61-year-old, who easily won reelection to a third term in 2018 told a New York City radio station that he would like to continue to serve. Cuomo’s had an aggressive agenda as Governor, signing a same-sex marriage bill, getting through a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage, and passing some of the strictest gun-laws in the country.
State lawmakers return to work in Albany tomorrow and they have a lot on their plate before the end of the legislative session.
A bill legalizing marijuana has been tweaked but it’s unclear if it will have enough support by the end of the session June 19th.
There’s a bill that would allow sports betting on phones and electronic devices but there’s questions as to whether it violates the state constitution.
A bill allowing illegal immigrants to get driver licenses appears to have enough support in the Assembly but it’s not clear if the senate will pass it.
A Lakeshore Flood Warning in effect today for the Lake Ontario shore in Orleans County.
The National Weather Service says the advisory will last until early this evening.
Forecasters say the wind combined with higher than usual water levels could lead to some flooding.
People living in the affected areas are asked to keep a close eye on conditions.
For the first time in over 25 years Genesee County’s unemployment rate has fallen below 4-percent.
The jobless rate for April was 3.6 percent.
In Orleans County, the unemployment rate was an even 4-percent.
Wyoming County’s jobless rate for April also came in at 4-percent.
