Lawmakers Strike Deal On Marijuana Decriminalization Bill.
Though lawmakers failed to pass the legalization of recreational marijuana, New York is decriminalizing the drug.
Governor Andrew Cuomo says the issue is long overdue.
Cuomo remarked that it’s obvious that marijuana policy has led to people of color becoming targets of law enforcement.
The governor had also hoped that lawmakers would legalize pot for recreational use, first through the state budget, and then during the recently closed legislative session.
Under the new regulations, having an ounce or less would result in a fine of up to 50-dollars, while having between one and two ounces could lead to a penalty up to 200-dollars.
Guilty plea from Batavia man accused menacing police with a BB gun.
32 year old Brandon Fogg appeared in Genesee County Court Friday afternoon where he pleaded guilty to first-degree menacing for pulling a BB gun out on City Police during his apprehension and struggle with an officer on June 5th.
He was initially charged with placing an individual at risk of serious injury or death in the incident before accepting the plea agreement.
Fogg now faces one-and-a-third to four years in prison when he is sentenced on August 1st.
A Warsaw man is busted for huffing in Batavia.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies report the arrest of 54 year old Duane Miller of Linwood Ave in Warsaw on a count of Illegal Use of Toxic Vapors.
Miller was taken into custody following investigation that alleged he was huffing toxic vapors in the Walmart Parking lot Friday afternoon.
He was ultimately given an appearance ticket for July 8th in Batavia Town Court.
A 65 year old Stafford man arrested for allegedly threatening another person with a screwdriver.
David Morgan of Roanoke Road was charged with Menacing and then released under supervision.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday for Albion High School Senior Brennan Moody.
Brennan was killed and three other boys were injured this week when the car in which they were riding crashed into a tree along Eagle Harbor Road.
Calling hours for Brennan will held from 1 until 4 and 6 until 9 on Tuesday at the Christopher Mitchel Funeral Home in Albion.
Services will be Wednesday morning at 11 at First Presbyterian Church in Albion.
