GCEDC to consider incentives for million dollar expansion in Batavia.
A real estate investment company based in Saratoga is seeking $156,000 in tax incentives from Genesee County.
Provident Batavia LLC plans to build a 13,000 sq. ft. addition to a it’s 25,000 sq. ft. warehouse on West Saile Drive that is leased to swimming pool supply company SCP Pools.
The project totals nearly $1.2-million.
According to the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) the project will retain 15 jobs at SCP Pools.
Because Provident is asking for over $100,000 in tax breaks, the project requires a public hearing if the GCEDC accepts the application at its board meeting this Thursday.
The project that will retain 15 jobs.
An East Main Street man is busted for drug dealing after a lengthy investigation.
45 year old William Schultz Sr. of Batavia was taken into custody following a 6 month long investigation into the sale of crack cocaine in and around Genesee County.
Schultz was arrested on a sealed indictment while at the Batavia Police Department for and unrelated matter and is accused of selling a quantity of crack to a Drug Task Force agent on two separate occasions.
He is being held without bail on two Class B felony counts each of Criminal Sale and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Genesee County deputies are looking into a disturbing case of animal abuse.
Officials say someone threw a kitten from a car in the area of Route 98 and West Saile Drive in Batavia Saturday night.
The animal suffered serious injuries and is currently recovering.
Police believe the animal was thrown from a red car and are asking anyone who may have seen what happened to contact them. If you have any information regarding the incident or the car in question, please contact the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office at 343-5000.
An Oakfield woman arrested for lying to lawmen after allegedly fleeing a motorcycle accident.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies in report the arrest of 19 year old Kayla Yglesias following investigation into a motor cycle accident on Fisher Road in Oakfield last month.
Yglesias was accused of leaving the scene of the accident and then reporting that the motorbike was stolen to law enforcement.
The bike was recovered from a body of water in Byron and Ygelsias was charged with multiple counts including Falsely Reporting an Incident to Law Enforcement, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident and Unlicensed Operator.
She is expected to appear in Oakfield Town Court on July 29th.
Town issues a Travel Advisory for road work starting tomorrow.
From July 10th thru August 7th State Route 5 between 665 E. Main St. and 5009 E. Main St. Rd will be reduced to one lane of traffic in the westbound direction to allow for the construction of a center pedestrian refuge island as part of the Ellicott Trial Project.
After the construction of the island, a permanent two way left turn lane will be provided from 5022 E. Main Street up to the new island reducing westbound traffic to one lane.
The International Joint Commission says Lake Ontario’s outflow levels won’t be changing.
Last month, officials increased the outflow limit to 10,400 cubic meters per second.
The IJC says if outflows were increased again, it would lead to shipping operations being shutdown along a stretch of the Saint Lawrence River, which would hurt the region’s economy.
The board says the current outflow will remain steady until the lake’s water levels drop.
That’s projected to happen next month.
