LeRoy resident arrested after attempting to fight with a Deputy.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of 49 year old Ryan Sharlow of West Bergen Road LeRoy following investigation into an incident of West Main Street Road.
According to lawmen Sharlow allegedly damaged another person’s property at the address last Tuesday and as the arresting officer was attempting to take him into custody he began to resist the deputy by grabbing him and throwing punches at him.
Sharlow was ultimately charged with Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest and was issued appearance tickets for LeRoy Town Court on August 8th.
Traffic stop in Stafford ends in arrest for a LeRoy woman.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Batavia Stafford Townline Road yesterday evening for alleged vehicle and traffic violations.
The driver was identified as 29 year old Jessica Culver of Walker Road LeRoy and during the course of the investigation it was determined that she was driving on a suspended license in a vehicle without an inspection ticket.
Also a subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly led to the discovery of a controlled substance in Culver’s possession and she was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Inspection Certificate.
She was released with appearance tickets for August 15th in Stafford Town Court.
Guests at the Darien Lake theme park were left stranded on the ferris wheel over the weekend.
The ferris wheel at six flags darien lake came to a halt Saturday evening leaving passengers stuck on the ride until park employees reset the it so they could exit.
The park says the ride will undergo a thorough inspection before reopening.
The City of Batavia will make a special presentation of the “Key to the City” to one of its distinguished residents, Army Staff Sergeant David Bellavia.
Bellavia was presented with the Medal of Honor, our country’s highest military award for valor, on June 25th.
The award was earned through Bellavia’s heroic actions during the second Battle of Fallujah in November 2004, as part of and Operation Phantom Fury.
As part of his homecoming, Bellavia is set to receive the “Key to the City” in a Presentation to Tuesday, July 23rd at 2 PM in the Entrance Courtyard to Batavia City Centre.
Muckdogs split series with Mahoning Valley.
The Muckdogs improved with a 7 to 2 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrapper Saturday night then slipped back one after losing 5 to 4 in last night’s match up.
Batavia remains in first place of the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division with a record of 22 and 14 and will face the Scrappers for the third game in the series tonight at Dwyer Stadium.

Drivers are saving a bit of money at the gas pumps these days.
According to Triple A, the average cost of a gallon of regular gas in Batavia is now $2.84.
That’s up 7 cents from the price a month ago but down a whole 12 cents from this time last year.
The state average is sitting at $2.88 a gallon while nationally it’s $2.77.
