A deadly house explosion in Ontario County has left two people dead.
A residence on Quayle Road in Richmond blew into pieces at around 4:30 early yesterday morning according to the Richmond Fire Chief.
Crews arrived to find pieces of roof and siding stuck in trees and clothing blown hundreds of yards away from the scene.
People as far as five miles away reported hearing and feeling the blast.
The home belonged to 80 year old Eric and 70 year old Gail Higham and the Ontario County Sheriff reported that two bodies of were found inside.
They have yet to confirm the identities of two victims killed in the explosion which remains under investigation.

Genesee County deputies are looking for more information on a disturbing discovery.
They say garbage bags filled with animal remains were found Friday in a Byron cornfield near the intersection of Merriman and Cook Roads.
Officials haven’t said how many bags were found however they were said to be filled with animal remains that included pigs and two small calves.
Deputies encourage contacting the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office at 343-5000 if you have any information regarding the incident.

Kitchen fire closes Batavia’s newest restaurant downtown.
Fire crews were called just before midnight Monday night to the Island Grill on East Main Street in Batavia.
According to the City Fire Chief the sprinkler system was triggered before firefighters arrived containing the flames to the kitchen area.
The restaurant suffered some smoke and water damage and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
The Hawaiian themed restaurant opened around a month ago.

The Buffalo Diocese has announced changes in the aftermath of sexual abuse allegations made against priests.
Bishop Richard Malone says there’s a new code of conduct for members of the clergy.
It includes procedures and policies for how to handle complaints of sexual misconduct.
Priests or deacons who break the rules could be suspended from ministry or dismissed.

Local members of Congress are reacting to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement to begin formal impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
Republican Congressman Chris Collins accused Democrats of rushing to judgment in order to satisfy their base.
Fellow GOP member, Congressman Tom Reed also questioned why Democrats are moving quickly without all of the necessary information.
Meanwhile, Democratic Congressman Brian Higgins says an impeachment inquiry will get Americans the truth they deserve.

The City of Batavia Fire Department will be flushing fire hydrants now through Sept. 26th from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the general area of East Main Street, North Street and Naramore Drive.
Homes and businesses nearby will be affected.
These tests may result in temporary discoloration of water in that area.
