A new child car seat law went into effect in New York State last week.
The Batavia Fire Department is reminding everyone that effective November 1st, any child under two years of age must be seated in a rear facing car seat.
Firemen say rear facing seats are best because they are equipped with a harness and a crash cradle that moves with the child to reduce stress on the back and spine.
A recent national study found that 90-percent of all car seats are installed incorrectly.
The Batavia City Fire Department encourages caregivers to have car seats checked. Batavia firemen are trained for this. Just call the city fire station and make an appointment.
The Piano Man, Billy Joel, is coming to Western New York.
Joel will perform at New Era Field on August 15th.
This show will mark the first time ibn 10 years Joel has appeared in Western New York.
Tickets for the general public go on sale Friday, November 22nd.
American Express cardholders can get theirs beginning on Monday the 18th.

36 year old Eric McGill of Hutchins Place in Batavia busted for menacing.
BPD says McGill menaced a guy with a baseball bat on Election Day.
He has been jail in lieu of 25-hundred dollars bail.
Governor Cuomo has signed off on 14 new pieces of legislation to help current and retired service members.
One law will create a database of homeless veterans living in the in New York State.
Another bill requires employers to advertise positions that are set aside for veterans living with disabilities
