A small barn has reportedly burned down at 5995 Sautell Road, Bergen.
Bergen Fire with mutual aid from Byron and South Byron were called into action shortly after 8 o’clock Friday evening with Elba Fire dispatched to the scene at around quarter after eight.
There were no injuries reported and there is no word yet on a possible cause of the blaze.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies report Petit Larceny arrests in the area.
24 year old Daniel Lewis of Lima was arrested following investigation into recent car larcenies in the Town of Batavia.
Lewis was apprehended after deputies say he entered a parked car on Stringham Drive and stole property from it earlier this month.
In a separate incident 55 year old Harry Gibson of Watson Street Batavia was arrested after deputies arrived at the Kohl’s department store in Batavia for a shoplifting complaint Friday evening.
Gibson was accused of stealing three bottles of cologne.
Both were given appearance tickets for Batavia Town Court at a later date.
Owner of former State Street armory wants public input on how to develop the site.
Dave Vascianne purchased the former armory property on State Street in the City of Batavia nearly four years ago with plans to build a senior housing complex on the back of the property.
According to Vascianne’s consultant David Carr, it’s been a deliberately slow process to decide what to build on the land and know they want to hear from the community as to what should go in on the front.
The pair has been working with a group of RIT students to develop a range of possible uses for the buildings which will be presented to the community from noon to 2 p.m. at City Centre next Saturday, February 29th.

County lawmakers support selling land to Go Art for an Art Garden.
Director of GO ART! Gregory Hallock presented the concept for the creation of an art garden at a Ways and Means Committee meeting Wednesday.
Committee members unanimously approved a letter of support and indicated a willingness to sell or lease a small parcel of land next to the Senior Center building on Bank Street in Batavia for the project.
The letter is necessary to help secure a potential grant from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation, which provided funds for the Musical Garden in the walkway next to Seymore Place.
Hallock said the garden will be space for art displays, concerts, classes, flowers, and a place to grow herbs and vegetables for use in the GO ART! kitchen.
