Genesee County Manager Jay Gsell has announced his plan to retire as of August 14, 2020 with arrangements for a streamlined transition for his successor.
Gsell broke the news at the February 26th Legislature meeting, that he will ending his twenty-seven year career as county manager with a total of forty-five years working in government.
Gsell was appointed county manager by the Genesee County Legislature in 1993, after rising to the top of 70 applicants from a national search.
In addition to announcing his retirement date, Gsell shared details of the succession plan which includes Assistant County Manager Matthew Landers appointment to the positon.
The Legislature has met with Matt and look forward to a seamless transition.
The Diocese of Buffalo has filed for bankruptcy following a recent wave of child sex abuse lawsuits brought against the Catholic Church.
The religious institution made the announcement Friday following the Rochester Diocese bankruptcy filing in September.
Since mid-August, hundreds of child sex abuse lawsuits have been brought against the Diocese of Buffalo in the aftermath of New York’s Child Victims Act which allows survivors of childhood sexual abuse to seek justice now regardless of any previous statute of limitations.
A bankruptcy judge is said to be overseeing a division of Buffalo’s Diocese’s assets to ensure a fair outcome to all survivors who timely file claims in the bankruptcy.
LeRoy resident arrested for Criminal Impersonation after spending thousands online shopping.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies report the arrest of 27 year old Kyle Madden of Lake Street Road LeRoy on counts of Grand Larceny, Identity Theft and Criminal Impersonation following investigation into a stolen credit card complaint.
Madden was accused of stealing another person’s credit card information and then making more than $3,000 in purchases online.
Madden was arraigned in LeRoy Town Court and released with an appearance ticket.
LeRoy woman found asleep behind the wheel is busted for DWI in Batavia.
30 year old Heather MacPherson of Gully Road LeRoy was arrested and charged with DWI and driving with a BAC of .08% or more after officers responded to a Jackson Street address early Sunday morning to find her sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle.
MacPherson was released with appearance tickets for City Court on March 4th.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, City of Batavia and Village of LeRoy Police Departments will participate in a special enforcement effort to crackdown on impaired driving over the St. Patrick’s Day Weekend.
The statewide STOP-DWI Crackdown efforts start on March 13th and will end on March 18th.
State, County and municipal law enforcement agencies across the state will be out in force.
