According to a new Siena college poll only 1 in 3 people in New York State think Governor Cuomo should run for re-election. The main factor contributing to lack of support seems to be his mishandling of Nursing homes during the pandemic. 39 percent of respondents said he should finish his term and not run again. 23 percent said he should resign immediately. 62 percent of respondents said they want someone else to be Governor. The largest areas of concern for voters in New York were Crime and Education.
The reason for the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of 3 New York Army National Guardsmen in January in the town of Mendon has been ruled to be operator error. Their UH-60 medical evacuation helicopter was on a routine mission, performing night vision proficiency training, when it went down. The New York Army National Guard investigation showed that a training maneuver was being practiced and the procedures taken during the maneuver put the helicopter into an unrecoverable situation before the crash. The training procedure they were executing is now going to be restricted to simulator only.
New regulations went into effect yesterday to hang up on robocallers. The last day of June was the final day for large phone carriers like Verizon and AT and T to implement a technology called STIR/SHAKEN which tracks and logs every robocall to make sure they come from legal sources. Tech sites such as CNet say that this is unlikely to effect the amount of call you receive right away but hopefully over time this will cut down fake calls to your phone. If you have a landline it is likely that this wont effect you as older networks wont be able to use this type of system. If you are getting robocalls the FCC says to hang up immediately, don’t talk to the caller or press any buttons to try to end calls other than the hang up button.
