The US governments Department of Homeland Security has announced that it is extending the travel restrictions with Canada till the 21st of August after Canada announced that it would allow vaccinated individuals to cross the border starting August 9th. Both democrats and republican lawmakers decried the decision. Democrat Congressman Brian Higgins Said “this is completely unnecessary” and cited businesses and families that are hurting because of the border closure. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said, “As Canada prepares to further open the border next month, the United States is failing to reciprocate, jeopardizing an already tenuous recovery for thousands of businesses, families, and communities across Upstate New York.” These restrictions affect land ports and ferry terminals but do not cover sea, air or rail travel.
Rochester’s Mayor was in court earlier today and plead not guilty to charges of child endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, and failure to secure firearms. Her husband, Timothy Granison plead not guilty to the same charges and several drug related charges. Prosecutors say that Warren left her 10 year old daughter alone at home with an unsecured handgun and rifle. Granison was caught in an investigation into cocaine trafficking in Rochester.
MCC has released its COVID restrictions for the coming school year. Fully vaccinated students will be allowed to take in person courses provided they prove they are vaccinated. All students will have to wear masks in the classroom. Half of courses will be online only. Unvaccinated students will need to be tested for covid weekly and wear masks at all times.
The Toronto Blue Jays will be playing their final game at Sahlen Field in Buffalo tonight after calling the area home for much of the past two seasons. The Blue Jays have had to play in Buffalo due to the ongoing shutdown of the border between the U.S. and Canada. They return to Toronto on the 30th and have already tweeted out “no place like home.” The Bisons will be back in buffalo at Sahlen field in August. Their first game is against the Rochester Red Wings on August

Delaware North, the food and beverage and retail partner for the Bills will be hosting a hiring fair for Cashiers, Suite Runners, Servers, Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, Supervisors, Dishwashers, Vendors and Warehouse operations workers. The Hiring Fair will be held July 24th, 28th and August 3rd. It will be held at the Bills Store located on Abbott Road in Buffalo.
The Center Street Parking lot will be closed for milling and resurfacing starting July 28th. Work will take several weeks with parts of the lot being open when not being worked on.
