41-year-old Jason Anderson of Batavia has been taken into custody and held at the Genesee County Jail. He’s charged with robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, petit larceny and criminal mischief. It’s alleged Anderson cut a chain lock that was securing an electric bicycle while parked outside of a business on Veteran’s Memorial Drive.

Rochester Police say a loaded gun was found in the bag of a 17-year-old student at Monroe High School on Alexander Street this morning. Officers responded to the school just before 9:00am after getting a 9-1-1 call that a student brought a gun. According to police, the school’s security found a Taurus 9mm handgun loaded with 12 rounds during an entry screening. The gun and the male student were safely secured before officers arrived. The student is being detained and police are investigating.

Buffalo police say that three people were shot early yesterday morning inside Club Marcella. A 21-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and two others were injured and taken to local hospitals. Both are reported to be in stable condition as of this morning. Police said the shooting stemmed from some type of argument. This is the second shooting in the past two weeks at the club. A security guard was shot in the parking lot during the previous incident late last month.
New York State Troopers are investigating a fatal crash in Williamson. They said a car sped away after a traffic stop on Ridge Road on Saturday, and hit a parked car, a shed, and then a home. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported and the investigation continues.
57-year-old David Wahl of Scottsville has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and other moving violations. He was allegedly found in possession of narcotics following a traffic stop last week in Bergen. Wahl was released on an appearance ticket.
According to Triple A, the national average cost for a gallon of regular fuel is now $3.42. The state average is a dime higher at $3.52; in Batavia, we’re paying $3.39 per gallon, up 4 cents from a week ago and up 7 cents from last month. Last year at this time, we were paying $3.60 per gallon.

The Buffalo Sabres will be kicking off their west coast road trip tonight as they try and avoid a fourth straight loss. The Sabres are set to take on the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena. On Saturday, Buffalo was blown out by the Calgary Flames by a final score of 7-2. Tage Thompson scored the first goal of the game and then Casey Mittelstadt scored the second, but it was all downhill from there. Face-off for this evening’s contest is set for 10:30.
The New York State Department of Health has launched a new campaign that’s aimed at reducing the number of deadly drug overdoses. The goal is to provide people with an understanding of how to lower the number of overdoses as fentanyl continues to be found in a variety of drugs. The campaign also emphasizes how important the use of naloxone is as a tool to save a person’s life if they have overdosed. People who are struggling with addiction can call 1-877-8-HOPENY 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Animal shelters and humane societies across the Empire State are going to be sharing over $7,500,000 in funding. Governor Hochul says this money can be used towards upgrades at those facilities to improve animal care and also to ensure dogs and cats are adopted. This is the latest round of funding for the state’s Companion Animal Capital Fund. Since 2017, more than $27,000,000 (million) has been dedicated to this program.
