Trio of suspects arraigned for violence on Central Ave.
Three suspects connected to last month’s fatal violence on Central Avenue have been arraigned in Genesee County Court.
Yesterday accused murderer, 30 year old Nathaniel Wilson was committed back to jail without bail on a 2nd degree murder charge for allegedly fatally stabbing 41 year old Jerry Toote.
17 year old Samuel Blackshear who is accused of shooting Wilson in the leg is being held in lieu of $100,000.
Blackshear could face up to 15 years in prison on the attempted assault charge and is also dealing with drug related charges from a previous case.
Blackshear’s private attorney, which was hired by his sister, says the teenager shot Wilson in self-defense.
48 year old Jennifer Urvizu-Hanlon who allegedly provided her revolver to the teen is being held on $50,000 bail.
All three pled not guilty to the charges.
Last weekend’s Darien Lake concert nets lawmen 20 arrests.
The collars game during the Kendrick Larmar concert on Sunday night.
14 of the arrests were for trying to re-enter the concert venue after being ejected and told not to return.
Stalking on East Main Street lands man in lock up.
36 year old Nicholas Garbarini of Batavia was apprehended by Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies following a lengthy investigation into a series of alleged incidents at the Genesee County Mental Health facility.
Garbarini was charged with 4th degree Stalking and was ordered to be held in lieu of bail in the Genesee County Jail.
The judges also put a Stay Away Order of Protection in place for the victim.
Holley Artist defends float after some interpret it as racist.
An artist’s float in the Holley June Fest parade has caught the attention of some citizens for all the wrong reasons, saying it depicted an African-American doll that was handcuffed and hanging from a tree.
While the Holley Mayor Brian Sorochty has said the float does not represent the village, the artist responsible Peter Gewerz says it was all a misinterpretation of his art.
Gewerz calls his creations “tree huggers” and explained that he has been designing similar installations on his property for about 7 or 8 years.
Gewerz said he apologized if he offended anyone and that he is not, and has never been a racist.
Mayor Sorochty says they will have a tighter review process for future parade floats.
Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame Quarterback Jim Kelly is going to get an award for his battles with cancer.
He’s fought cancer three times in the last five years and is recovering from his latest surgeries for oral cancer.
Yesterday Kelly announced that he was going to receive the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance at the ESPYS in July.
