A 64 year old Orleans County pilot remains in guarded condition at Strong Hospital with burns suffered in the crash of his experimental helicopter.
Alan Heard of Waterport was burned on his head and chest when his ultra-light helicopter crashed shortly after taking off yesterday from the Gaines Valley Airport in Carlton.
Mark Bennett, who had stopped to watch the take-off, helped Heard get out of the fiery wreckage snuffed out flames that were burning the pilot’s clothing.
The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office said the FAA has secured parts of the aircraft and recovered a video camera which may contain footage of the crash.

Visitor Restrictions have been lifted at UMMC.

In 2016 Astacio was convicted of drunk driving and was most recently charged with a felony.
