No. 7 Genesee Blanks Jayhawks; Advances to NJCAA Region III Finals
BATAVIA, NY…The No.7 Genesee Community College men’s soccer team is moving on the NJCAA Region III Championships on Sunday after defeating the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks 3-0 Thursday afternoon.
Ollie Ardle got the Cougars on the board with a PK less than five minutes into the contest. Leading goal scorer in the entire country, Hiago Barros de Souza scored to make it 2-0 with the assist coming from Ed Port, who leads the country in assists. James Lighton scored in the top left corner of the net to increase the Genesee lead to 3-0 midway through the second half. Adrian Bergman recorded the shutout for Genesee.
The attention will now turn to the NJCAA Region III Championships on Sunday, November 3rd at Genesee Community College. Genesee will play Mohawk Valley CC at 12 noon in the Region III District B Championship game. The NJCAA Region III District A Championship game will begin at 3:00pm.
