Honoring Veterans on PTSD Walkway
Written by WBTA STAFF on June 7, 2018
VA Western New York Healthcare System and Batavia Veterans Alumni Association will honor veterans who have passed away at the Memorial Walkway Ceremony, Friday, June 8, 2018, at the Batavia site of VA Western New York Healthcare System, 222 Richmond Avenue, Batavia, New York.
The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the walkway behind Building 5 of the Jack Wisby Jr. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Building. Two veteran graduates of the PTSD Program will have their names added to the walkway this year joining 53 other veterans who have been honored since it was unveiled in 2006. “The camaraderie amongst veterans is strong,” said Caryn Dilandro, Ph.D., PTSD Program Manager. “That bond carries years after veterans have graduated from PTSD treatment. This walkway and ceremony is one of the many ways our VA community honors, and advocates for, the hard work it takes in recovery from PTSD.”
The Jack H. Wisby Jr. Memorial Walkway was made possible by donations. Following the Walkway ceremony, the annual picnic will take place. All are welcome.
