The Summer concert season is underway, and New York State will be cracking down on underage drinking at outdoor music venues.
Starting this week, investigators are going to be patrolling places like Darien Lake Performing Arts Center to search for fake ID’s.
They’ll also be keeping a close eye on vendors to make sure they don’t sell alcohol to underage people.
Anyone under 21 who is caught using a fake ID to buy an alcoholic beverage could get a ticket and also have their license revoked.

After more than a year of waiting, some Americans are finally going to be allowed into Canada next month. The Canadian government says beginning August 9th, U.S. residents who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can cross the border without having to quarantine. However, they’ll have to provide proof that they’ve been immunized, be tested for coronavirus before their trip and have no symptoms of the illness.
The border between both countries has been shut down since March 2020.

A Wyoming County man admits to attempting to have sex with whom he believed was an 11-year-old girl.
42-year-old Daniel Hays of Bliss is facing a maximum penalty of 20-years in prison and a quarter-million dollar fine.
Police say in April and May of this year Hay exchanged sexually explicit text messages with the underage girl who was actually an under-cover State Police Investigator. The two arranged a meeting and when Hay drove two hours to meeting, he was arrested.

All 64 SUNY campuses across New York State plan to fully reopen with in-person classes this Fall.
Vaccination rates for SUNY students are outpacing the general state population. The only restrictions will be for those who remain unvaccinated, who will be required to continue masking and social distancing, as well as be subject to weekly COVID testing. They may also be barred from sports and special events.

The COVID positivity rate across New York is 1.18%.
In the Finger Lakes Region, which includes Genesee County, has been increasing since Saturday.
