LE ROY APPROVES NEW TACO BELL ON WEST MAIN ROAD

A new Taco Bell is moving forward in Le Roy following weeks of debate over the project.
The Town Board voted 4-to-1 Thursday to grant conditional approval for a restaurant and drive-thru at 7185 West Main Road. Indus Hospitality Group plans to redevelop a property currently occupied by an apartment house near Burger King and the Tops plaza.
Before voting, town officials reviewed concerns involving drainage, traffic, snow removal, lighting and potential noise for nearby homeowners.
The approved plans call for a six-foot fence and additional landscaping along the residential side of the property. Outdoor lighting will be designed to limit spillover, and the drive-thru ordering area has been repositioned away from neighboring homes.
Some residents continued to raise concerns about late-night traffic and noise, including requests for limits on operating hours.
Indus officials said they currently anticipate closing around 11 p.m., although final hours will depend on customer demand.
The town’s special-use permit can be reviewed annually if problems develop after the restaurant opens.

BATAVIA MAN CHARGED AFTER THREE PEOPLE STABBED ON OTIS STREET
A Batavia man is facing multiple felony charges following an early-morning stabbing that left three people injured.
City police were called to a disturbance at 14 Otis Street shortly after midnight Friday. Officers arriving at the scene found three stabbing victims.
Two were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment. Police said both were in stable condition Friday. A third person declined medical attention.
Investigators identified 37-year-old David Jackson as a suspect and began searching for him outside the city.
Jackson was later located in the Le Roy area, where Le Roy Police took him into custody with assistance from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police.
He has been charged with first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Jackson was sent to the Genesee County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Batavia City Court on November 10th.
Police have not released additional information about what led to the incident.
All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

ROAD WORK TO IMPACT TRAFFIC IN TOWN OF ALABAMA TODAY

Drivers in the Town of Alabama should expect detours and delays today as two road projects get underway.
Crews are replacing a damaged culvert at the intersection of Lewiston and Lockport roads, forcing closures near Macomber Road, Knowlesville Road and Bliss Road. That work is expected to last one day.
Separate pavement repairs are also beginning along Lewiston Road between Route 77 and Lockport Road.
That project will continue for several days. The road will remain open, but motorists should expect slower traffic and are advised to allow extra travel time.

CHARITY RIDERS DONATE $2,500 TO CROSSROADS HOUSE

A September motorcycle fundraiser has turned into a 25-hundred-dollar donation for Crossroads House in Batavia.
The Genesee County Charity Riders presented the money Saturday after raising the funds through their September 19th Dice Run and a 50-50 raffle.
Crossroads House Executive Director Tracy Ford says the donation will help support the organization’s end-of-life care mission.
The Charity Riders are already planning five fundraising rides for next year, with Crossroads House once again expected to be among the beneficiaries.

UKRAINE REJECTS MUSK CLAIM OVER STARLINK DRONE STRIKES

Ukrainian officials are challenging Elon Musk’s claim that their military improperly used Starlink for offensive drone attacks.
A defense technology adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the civilian version of Starlink has long been restricted inside Ukraine, including speed limits on connected drones and no service inside Russia. He says those limits make the kind of medium- and long-range strikes described by Musk impossible.
Musk acknowledged SpaceX recently reduced Starlink speeds in Ukraine, saying the company was closing what he described as a violation of the service’s rules.
The dispute is separate from Starshield, the military-grade satellite network heavily used by Ukrainian forces. Recent Starshield restrictions disrupted some drone and air-defense operations before service was restored Saturday.
The disagreement comes as Russia continues large-scale drone and missile attacks and new U.S.-backed peace efforts move forward.

IRANIANS BRACE FOR POSSIBLE RETURN TO FULL-SCALE WAR

Anxiety is rising across Iran as military tensions build ahead of elections in Israel and the United States.
President Donald Trump has again threatened further strikes, while a third U.S. aircraft carrier and additional troops are moving toward the region. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also called for Iran’s leadership to be removed.
In Tehran, some residents are stockpiling food and medicine or preparing to leave the capital.
Iran is also under growing economic pressure from a U.S. naval blockade that has restricted oil exports, weakened the country’s currency and contributed to higher prices and medicine shortages.
Iranian leaders remain publicly defiant and have threatened U.S. bases, regional allies and additional targets around the Strait of Hormuz.
Diplomatic contacts are still continuing through intermediaries, but there has been little visible progress toward ending the conflict.
