Batavia Priest Removed from Ministry Following Misconduct Allegations
Bishop Michael W. Fisher has removed the Reverend Patrick T. O’Keefe from active ministry and suspended his priestly faculties following allegations of sexual harassment of adults and other inappropriate workplace and ministerial conduct.
O’Keefe, ordained in 1996, most recently served as Parochial Vicar for several Genesee County parishes — including Ascension and Resurrection in Batavia, St. Brigid in Bergen, and Our Lady of Mercy in Le Roy.
A canonical judicial review will now be conducted by the Diocese of Buffalo to examine all allegations against him.
The diocese says it has strengthened protocols for investigating and responding to reports of inappropriate behavior involving clergy, employees, or volunteers — stressing transparency, accountability, and the protection of parishioners.
Reverend Scottston Brentwood continues to serve as pastor for the Family of Parishes 12, alongside Reverend Eugene Costa and Reverend Matthew Zirnheld as parochial vicars.
Inmate Charged in Jail Assault
52-year-old Reginald Wilson of Batavia is facing new charges after allegedly assaulting another inmate at the Genesee County Jail on Saturday.
Deputies say Wilson bit the victim in the chest during a fight, causing injury.
He’s been charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony. Wilson, already confined at the jail, was arraigned in CAP Court Monday morning.
